We are a collaborative quintet of curious, compatible individuals who joined forces not because of the combinations of instruments we play but because we like each other’s music and vibe. This group has varied world-music undertones thanks to the diverse backgrounds of the members – Anna Patton and Miamon Miller have spent time in Eastern Europe and bring a knowledge of gypsy and Balkan and Turkish vocabularies; Julian Gerstin and myself have immersed ourselves in different Caribbean styles and the language of jazz. Todd Roach is an authority on frame drums and Arabic and Indian music. All five of us contribute to our program of original musc. In As Yet’s Music, you’ll hear sounds ranging from Latin grooves to Turkish Modes with cajon accompaniment, even a blues in a Bulgarian 11/8.
